TAMAKI NIIME
Designer Niime Tamaki started her own brand TAMAKI NIIME using banshu-ori, a type of special cotton fabric known from Hyogo Prefecture of Japan. In 2006, she started to create her own fabric for her clothes design. In 2014, she began to grow her own organic cotton and later to have her own sheep, all with the aim of sourcing materials with 100% traceability.
Tamaki Niime and her team continue to experiment with traditional techniques, always developing them further. Knitting the textiles slowly and with lots of air in between the threads, makes a soft and comfortable fabric. Using vintage looms and knitting machines, TAMAKI NIIME produces original fabrics which are then used to create colorful, individualistic clothes. Each person involved in the process is important and each product is one-of-a-kind.
