Mitsuami was born one summer holiday at a beach in Stefanos’ home town in Italy. He created the first piece and I named it Mitsuami. That’s Japanese and stands for the simplest form of a three-strand braid. Since then our collection has grown and has slowly become an established brand. We’re keeping the easefulness of a holiday feeling. Without any hurry, we let new design concepts come to our minds. We enjoy finding new materials during holidays in Asia and all over Europe.
The creation of Mitsuami pieces is very spontaneous. Stefano’s favourite place is the kitchen counter, sitting by the sunny window. I like to watch him making them, it’s like he’s meditating.
